HMC algorithm with multiple time scale integration and mass preconditioning

چکیده
We present a variant of the HMC algorithm with mass preconditioning (Hasenbusch acceleration) and multiple time scale integration. We have tested this variant for standard Wilson fermions at β = 5.6 and at pion masses ranging from 380MeV to 680MeV. We show that in this situation its performance is comparable to the recently proposed HMC variant with domain decomposition as preconditioner. We give an update of the “Berlin Wall” figure, comparing the performance of our variant of the HMC algorithm to other published performance data. Advantages of the HMC algorithm with mass preconditioning and multiple time scale integration are that it is straightforward to implement and can be used in combination with a wide variety of lattice Dirac operators.

Non-Hermitian Polynomial Hybrid Monte Carlo
In this thesis algorithmic improvements and variants for two-flavor lattice QCD simulations with dynamical fermions are studied using the O(a) improved Dirac-Wilson operator in the Schrödinger functional setup and employing a hybrid Monte Carlo-type (HMC) update. Both, the Hermitian and the Non-Hermitian operator are considered. For the Hermitian Dirac-Wilson operator we investigate the advanta...
متن کاملExponential Integration for Hamiltonian Monte Carlo
We investigate numerical integration of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) for Hamiltonian Monte Carlo (HMC). High-quality integration is crucial for designing efficient and effective proposals for HMC. While the standard method is leapfrog (Störmer-Verlet) integration, we propose the use of an exponential integrator, which is robust to stiff ODEs with highly-oscillatory components. This os...
متن کاملVibration and Bifurcation Analysis of a Nonlinear Damped Mass Grounded System
In this paper, vibrations and bifurcation of a damped system consists of a mass grounded by linear and nonlinear springs and a nonlinear damper is studied. Nonlinear equation of motion is derived using Newton’s equations. Approximate analytical solutions are obtained using multiple time scales (MTS) method. For free vibration, the approximate analytical results are compared with the numerical i...
متن کاملSpeeding up the HMC algorithm: Some new results
We give some new performance results for the Hybrid Monte Carlo (HMC) simulation of dynamical clover-improved Wilson fermions using an improved pseudo-fermion action. The generalisation of even-odd preconditioning for the standard Wilson fermion matrix to the clover-improved case is not unique. In the literature the so called symmetric and asymmetric versions are discussed. Most of the previous...
متن کاملPolynomial Filtering for HMC in Lattice QCD
The use of short order polynomial approximations to 1/x as a UV filter for HMC is investigated. Previous work in the Schwinger model (2D QED) showed that the integration step size may be increased within a multiple time scale integration by separating the UV and IR dynamics with a polynomial filter. We test the same method within the framework of Lattice QCD. c Copyright owned by the author(s) ...
